FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Service Provides Creative Ways for Small Businesses to Survive During Tough Economic Times!

PORTERVILLE, CA  (August 31, 2009)  In today’s economy business owners are reevaluating their spending habits and overhead costs. These costs include staffing and the incredibly high costs of employees in the state of California. An increase in layoffs and downsizing has affected business owners across the country, however, the work must still be completed. Businesses seeking to survive the recession must get creative in completing necessary job tasks that are critical to their survival and finances.

With the advent of the Virtual Assistant industry, savvy business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals now have an exciting new solution to keep overhead costs low and still get the essential administrative services they need! These services are completed in a timely, efficient, and most importantly, cost effective manner.

The virtual assistant industry is a relatively new concept but is quickly growing as businesses realize the benefits. Virtual Assistants are skilled independent professional contractors who work from their own fully equipped office communicating with clients via email, telephone, fax or the internet. Any business project can be done this way. Who needs to know that your assistant does not work in your office?

By partnering with a virtual assistant, you pay only for the time spent on your projects, and you avoid costs associated with employees such as worker’s comp insurance, employer taxes, health benefits, vacations, etc. Virtual Assistants also free up time for the business owner to focus on what they do best…..run their business!

Theresa Sheridan, of Theresa Sheridan Enterprises, is one local entrepreneur who is offering just such a service. Ms. Sheridan has been freelancing at website and graphic design for over 7 years and is now adding Virtual Assistance to her repertoire. Her previous business experience includes working as an administrative assistant, a sales representative for a communications cabling contractor, and a store front business owner. “I have many years of administrative and project management experience, along with my website and graphic design experience. This means that I have the skills that businesses need to complete their projects effectively and efficiently, saving them money and valuable time”, states Ms. Sheridan.

  • Just wanted to briefly comment on how far the VA industry has grown since this was first posted. For me, it has become indispensable. I’m many other small/mid-sized businesses feel the same way.. One of those win-win situations made possible by our increasingly “smaller” world. You were definitely ahead of the curve on this one. Well done.

I gave the VA thing a try a couple of years ago to help bring in some extra income, but it didn’t work for me, as I lost my focus. Once I started refocusing on just the design again, things started to pick up nicely. I remember when I first heard of VA’s, I thought it was such a great idea, which is why I attempted it. But yes, they are invaluable to so many people, I’ve actually considered hiring one recently myself!
