Today I’ll be implementing a new regular weekly feature called WordPress Wednesday, where I will share with you some of the many WordPress tips & tricks I have discovered over the past few years.
WordPress has moved far beyond just simple blogging and is a complete Content Managment System (CMS). Along with the blogging capability, you can use WordPress for static, brochure-type websites as well. Themes have come a long way and many free themes can be easily customized, with minimal HTML or CSS knowledge, but if you know HTML and CSS, your ability to customize your theme will be greatly enhanced.
A big part of WordPress are the tens of thousands of free 3rd party plug-ins that are available …

California is a great state. Yes, political issues aside, I’m a born and bred Cali-girl, and proud of it. I’ve tried living in other states, but I always end up back here in California. You can’t beat the climate and the diversity of the terrain and the number of things to do in California. You can wake up overlooking the Pacific Ocean and in just a few hours time be having lunch in the grandeur of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
I’ve seen a good deal of the state over the decades, but I had never been to the coastal mountain areas and the Santa Ynez Valley. This area is rich in California heritage as it was among the areas that were settled early by the Spanish who built missions that still dot the California countryside today.
This particular area is …

Perhaps one of the best opportunities to get found online is with one of the free local SEO services provided by the 3 major search engines. These listings will go a long way towards improving your overall SEO rankings, but especially your local rankings.
While you may be able to do business nationwide, or even worldwide because of the virtual world we live in, why miss out on the opportunity to really leverage local SEO and find people in your own community to do business with? I really enjoy meeting new and potential clients face to face, and I think it gives them confidence in me and my product as well.
Google, Yahoo & Bing all offer their own versions of local listings or “places”, where you can list your business

I have not been giving my blog the attention that it deserves.
For weeks now, I have had no motivation to write much of anything. Even though I’ve managed to get a few posts out there, it was a belabored effort, at best. My Alexa numbers are up and while I know I shouldn’t be basing my success on my Alexa number, it does provide insight for me into the traffic on my blog. The cycle goes like this: My blog posting and writing slows down, my traffic goes down, my Alexa number goes up. If I start writing more, the traffic magically increases and my Alexa number goes down, so I know that the traffic is increasing. Funny how that works.
But, life is challenging me at the moment, what can I say? I’ve even gone so far as …

According to Wikipedia, the definition of keyword density is “the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page”. If your keyword density is too high, you could be penalized for keyword stuffing; too low and you’re not

Nothing can make….or break…your company faster than people talking. The fact is, people listen to what others say, for better or worse, so it’s more important than ever to make those good words count.
We all know how fast bad news can travel. If someone is unhappy with your product or services, you can bet others will hear about it. People tend to listen a bit less when the news isn’t as juicy, so if you have

No matter the age, our babies are always our babies. And when your child is wheeled away from you on a hospital gurney, there is no greater tug on the heart strings. I’ve watched my oldest daughter go under general anesthesia 7 times now (even though I tell her the oral surgery doesn’t really count, she’s quite adamant that in her mind, it counts!). She’s had major abdominal surgery as a 10 year old, her left hip pinned at 11, her right hip pinned at 12,

One of the problems that everyone faces when putting content on the internet is copyright infringement. Many people falsely assume that if something is out in the public on the internet, it’s free for the taking. This is not the case! Anything published on the internet was put there by someone, and that person more than likely has copyrights to that information. If you want to use that information, legally you are required to ask permission before just taking it for your own use.
I wrote a blog post a couple of years ago, titled “The Copyright Mystery“, which explains copyrights in much more detail, so I won’t go into it again in this post. In this post, we will talk about some of the ways to put a watermark on your photos, which will …
